Info
George Watson was born in Hackney, London, graduating from the Northumbria University BA Design for Industry programme in 2008 and currently works as a product/interaction designer at Philips Design in The Netherlands.
In 2006, after completing an internship at Gro Design in Eindhoven George won the Macef Design Prize with his Glide ceramic toaster, a project that highlighted his interest in making engaging, playful objects that challenged accepted social behaviors. George went on to exhibit the project at the Fiera Milano Fair in Milan and at Designersblock in London as part of London Design Week 2007.
Since the project, and after completing an internship at Therefore in London, George developed a broader approach to design becoming interested in solving complex problems that reach into areas of service, experience and interaction design. His final year projects were rewarded by his commendation in the RSA Design Directions for his Breathe Asthma Management System and by winning the Vtech Award for his Object Photographic Experience project at the 2008 New Designers graduate showcase in London.
George hopes to continue to apply his skills and methodology to solve real problems for people.
