I am keen to design things that are fun, engaging and better for people and challenge the way we live and behave. I have two years of experience in the industry as both a freelancer and intern working with blue-chip clients within consultancy. I have the imagination, wide ranging skills and enthusiasm to tackle complex design problems and deliver ogional and iconic solutions.

SKILLS

Thinking around problems and pulling out interesting things from the dull. observing..i am excited by both function and form down to the tiny details.

Dynamic sketching and form ivestigation.

Precise hand modelmaker: experienced in card, foam and plastic appearance modelling in a small workshop building on foundation experinece. I have always enjoyed making things.

Good knowledge and appropriation of new and current materials potential and limitations and interest in working with materials as a starting point.

Quick and accurate photoshop renderings from sketches or line work clearly communicating form, material, finsih and interactions.

Confident user of vellum, rhino and solidworks as a tool for design and communication, basic knowledge of Alias and ProEngineer.

Passion for interactive annimation and film using Flash, AfterEffects and Final Cut.

Documenting projects using InDesign and QuarkXpress.

Good understanding of basic mass manufacturing techniques particularly injection moulding, metal/extrusions/pressings, procelain forming and soft goods manufacture.

Bowden Street, London Role: Designer: Working within the team on two major new projects for British Airways. [3 months freelance]

Eindhoven, The Netherlands Role: Designer: Fully integrated in design team working on major projects for Samsung camera and Nokia. Included working jointly with Nokia design at workshops accross Europe as well as imbedded in clients offices in London. I was involved in all aspects of the design process for the family of three digital cameras for launch in 2008 and a range of simplified mobile phones for 2010. [4 month internship]

Scala Street, London W1 Role: Designer: Working within a large design and engineering team on major new projects for Freeplay and Samsonite. For Freeplay my work developed from concept to appearance model with a close relationship with the client and is due to be manufactured this year. My work for Samsonite Black Label included a rapid concept and development phase with final product samples being made in China. I learned a lot about communication and leasing with factories and clients as well as the design of soft goods. [4 month internship]

Uxbridge, London Role: Design Engineer: Developed my Glide toaster project towards production alongside an engineer. I learned about the engineering of my product by working with rigs to test and validate aspects of the internal functions of my design. This was an opportunity to learn about engineering and to experience the culture of an in-house studio. [1 month internship]

Southwark, London Role: Junior Designer: Developing a pitch for a new client Flexifoil Kites I worked on my own to creatively overhaul the brands identity, marketing and products and presented a range of proposals to the client. [2 weeks Freelance]

Vera Fletcher Theatre

Thames Ditton, Surrey Role: Technical Director: Lighting, sound and set design for a small community theatre. I had to lease with visiting production teams as well as designing sets and performance environments for new shows. The work required the ability to solve problems under tight time-scales, I learnt a lot about the area of theatre design and enjoyed the challenging tasks and self-learning new skills. [2 years part-time]
